an adventurer by way of convenience rather than desire — "people in these parts argue with you a lot less about why you're wandering around, if you just tell them you're an adventurer!" — her true and honest calling is as a naturalist. it just so happens that while people argue with you a lot less, they ask of you a lot more... and thus, Temperance Abyzou became the Warrior of Light.though not an adventurer by choice, Temperance absolutely has an explorer's heart, and will always jump at the chance to discover a new locale and all the life that dwells within. she does this exploring primarily with her hands — given the opportunity, she will absolutely approach and examine anything new with a thoroughness rivalling that of a child.first and foremost, Temperance approaches things as an observer — typically preferring to let others do the talking (and typically to her own detriment). much to her chagrin, this will frequently lead to her being "voluntold" to do this or that and, owing to her unique capabilities with the Echo, oftentimes killing this or that. it is not her favorite activity.
much as she wishes it were otherwise, she tends to wear her emotions on her sleeve... or her tail, as the case may be. but when around those she trusts, Temperance does open up quite a bit, both vocally and physically — if you let her, she will talk your ear off about plants. probably even if you don't let her, it'll happen anyway. the people she loves are frequently the target of forehead kisses and impromptu lap-naps.
though she has her husbands at her beck and call, Temperance is not at all immune to occasional fleeting — or more than fleeting — thoughts or fantasies about others she has met, worked with, or traveled alongside. what follows is a non-exhaustive, always-expanding list i like to think of as "It Happened Once In A Dream" — encounters that don't canonically happen in-universe, but that i couldn't resist adding to the "to be written eventually" pile:

once described by a lover as "soft to the senses, but still capable of drawing blood", Temperance's smaller stature and quieter outward demeanor belie the intensity — the ferocity — with which she pursues every endeavor, including those relating to combat when her hand is forced. she's light on her feet, quick with her hands, and hyperfocused on eliminating that which she deems a true threat. the weapon she reaches for first is a pair of daggers, her preferred role being that of the Rogue — her philosophy is "get in, get it over with, get out."

Vox Amatae
as the heritor of the legacy of Circea — the last Azem — Temperance is possessed of a powerful persuasive ability. beyond the standard "visions of memory" and "infinite language" manifestations, her Echo additionally expresses itself in her communication, allowing her to convince almost anyone of almost anything. she can plant ideas, gain followers, change paths, and inspire movement, often with naught but a short statement. the potency of this effect can vary; while there are those who can be spurred to action with a simple nod, others may require a longer, more intentional conversation — and there are certainly those among that last group that would not afford her the luxury. but if one is interested in winning hearts and minds, one could do far worse than to have the Warrior of Light arguing in your favor.
Aetherial Aphantasia
due to having a degree of aphantasia, Temperance struggles with channeling aether into "freeform" magicks like Black/White/Red Mages do; she had once thought herself completely incapable of casting either destructive or restorative magicks as a result. some patient tutoring from Alphinaud on the basics of arcanima has helped her to compensate for this difficulty — she can finally summon her very own Carbuncle!
Archon of Cuisine
a master of the intersection between the culinary and alchemical arts, Temperance is capable of discerning by taste the ingredients used in any food, drink, or potion, and then replicating the item (or modifying its characteristics by adjusting ingredients accordingly). this mastery has led her to pursue Archon status at the Studium, where she successfully defended her thesis and received her marks shortly before the Tuliyollan Rite of Succession began.

Truth's Reverberation
Tempura's Echo manifests on hearing someone speak; in their words, she can hear the difference between what the voice says and what the heart says. when one's words are incongruent (or incomplete) compared to one's feelings, she will hear another quieter voice after what was spoken, telling the full truth of it — an actual echo. her ability to actually pick up on this echo depends on a few things: how stark is the contrast between what's said and what's felt? how hard is the speaker trying to convince the listener (how much emotion is put into the words)? and, of course, is she actually listening?
The Incurable Yes-Woman
owing somewhat to her upbringing, Tempura has a knack for seeking out places and people to whom she might be useful and making herself so — no task too great, no reward too small, no justification too flimsy. when asked how she manages to find every person in need, in every locale she visits, her explanation is cryptic: "sometimes it just looks like someone has a quest for you, y'know?"
Aetheric Armoury
the average fighter is generally able to competently specialize in one form of combat; perhaps two, if particularly skilled. the exceptionally adaptable can often even blend two together, allowing for the use of skills normally inaccessible by one job or the other. but there are the particularly skilled and exceptionally adaptable, and then there is Tempura Pura. possessed of what can only be called an eidetic memory for combat, Tempura is capable of replicating any fighting style, either by seeing it in use or by attuning to a soul crystal. rather than carry arms for every style she's witnessed, an aetheric weapon is generated using her own aether, which dissipates upon changing jobs. with healthy, intact aether, the physical burden this poses is generally only slightly greater than her standard exertions — assuming she sticks to one form of combat for the encounter.

Muscle Memory
as a complement to the Echo's standard offer of past-vision, Dion is additionally granted a taste of future-vision: when presented with a scenario in which choices are to be made, he can choose to mentally follow the path opened by each choice to its terminus (be that another choice or the end of the scenario) and use the resulting information to act in whatever manner is most ideal. a modicum of focus is required, and having more information available upfront tends to improve the result. the most practical application for this, naturally, is combat. for simpler decisions, this process appears instantaneous to the observer, granting an almost impervious mien — how is it that one man can so flawlessly navigate practically any engagement? — but the reality is rather more complicated, as the mental burden increases with the number of choices and variables (including teammates) he is forced to evaluate. lucky for him, his allies are rather reliable, and his enemies often predictable... but constantly analyzing complex encounters, sometimes only to arrive at the same outcome regardless, can be more costly than one might expect.
Cloak and Dagger
partially thanks to his unique Echo, partially due to a baseline level of savvy, Dion tends to have an ability to "act like he belongs" in most situations he encounters. his readily-accessible charm and "inexplicable" knowledge of just what to say and do have granted him access to people and places that, by all rights, he had no right accessing. there will, of course, always be those who cannot be charmed, and situations where his wits escape him — for both of these, a well-placed dagger tends to do the heavier lifting that words could never do.

Heritor of Echoes
the neverending snowfall that struck Coerthas was not the only effect of the Seventh Umbral Calamity that impacted Astrelle — as Dalamud broke apart and Bahamut began his rampage, all manner of terrifying ordeals plagued her from then on. a newfound ability to speak languages she'd never heard of; visions of starshowers, strange markings on her body; memories of events — adventures even — that she could not have possibly known of, but somehow recalled as clearly as if she'd been there from the first. on rare occasion she is able to discern the presence of the man who originally lived these experiences.
Storyteller Extraordinaire
a voracious reader and writer, Astrelle's first destination in any new locale is a bookseller or a library. she is possessed of a gift for poetry and prose both, which naturally lends itself to the art of song as well. though she would sooner flee than admit it, she does publish her own writing under the penname "M.S." — most often in the genre of romance, by far her favorite to read. she will go to great pains to obtain these novels (surreptitiously, if at all possible, leading to a great many misunderstandings as to the purpose of visiting her providers).
Witchdrop Survivor
to certain elements within the Holy See, Astrelle's descriptions of her suffering after the Calamity sounded less like sudden torture, and more like thinly-veiled heresy. to admit to the crimes of "speaking in tongues", "manipulating the stars without authorization from the Observatorium", and "professing to know of events beyond Ishgard's borders" was enough to warrant an Inquisition in response to her cries for help — and when she failed to present compelling evidence for her innocence, at age 16 Astrelle was sentenced to judgement at the cliffs of Witchdrop... to escape by revealing her "true" Dravanian form, or to be raised up in innocence to dwell forever within Halone's halls. instead, she survived and retained her personhood besides, though with no memory of how — only that she suddenly arrived in the North Shroud, recuperating at the Bobbing Cork before eventually making for Gridania, desperately seeking a quiet, questionless life of normalcy.
